Texans QB CJ Stroud Prays (As Usual) Before Sunday’s Game
By Movieguide® Contributor
Once again, the Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud has put his faith on full display.
In a new video shared by Christhlete, Stroud is seen taking a knee in front of the bench, bowing his head and clasping his hands in prayer.
“Texans quarterback @cj7stroud was seen on the sidelines praying before Sunday’s game against the Bills. Lord willing his team won the game, and he gave all the glory to Jesus Christ,” the outlet wrote in the caption.
The Texans beat the Bills in a 23-20 nail-biter. After the game, Stroud, as always, gave all the credit to God.
“First and foremost I just want to give all glory and praise to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” he said.
The Texans were on a mission as their star receiver, Stefon Diggs, played his former team for the first time.
Diggs revealed that the win “meant a lot” to him and held “it in all week energy-wise” leading up to the matchup.
“We got a dub this week. We 1-0. Obviously, playing my old team, I’m not going to sit here and act like it was just regular,” Diggs said after the game. “It meant a lot to me, and it was reassuring that the guys around me knew that it meant a lot to me, even if I didn’t say it. I try to just keep it poised and treat every week like it’s the same. But I’d be lying if I said it didn’t mean a lot to me.”
Stroud echoed, “It was huge. I know today Diggs was a little emotional. He just wanted to play well against his former team. He did a good job by just letting his emotions affect his play, and he played great. Just happy that he’s happy with this dub.”
Per ESPN, “The second-year signal-caller led the Texans into field goal range with two seconds left, and kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn nailed the winning 59-yarder.”
Movieguide® recently reported on Stroud’s pre-game prayer:
In a video shared by Sterling Harris Ministries, Stroud is seen taking a knee, clasping his hands together and bowing his head.
“In the midst of the roaring stadium, quarterback CJ Stroud, of the Houston Texans, takes a moment to pray,” the account wrote. “His head bowed, hands clasped — a reminder that even on life’s biggest stages, we all need a moment to center ourselves and invite God into our every moment.”
“Whether you’re facing a crucial game or a challenging day at work, taking time to breathe, reflect, and pray can be your secret weapon,” the post continued. “Stroud shows us that success isn’t just about physical preparation, but mental and spiritual readiness too. What’s your pre-game go to for life’s daily challenges?”
