Texans WR Puts Season-Ending Injury ‘In God’s Hands’

Houston Texans star wide receiver Tank Dell ended his 2024 season early after blowing out his knee against the Kansas City Chiefs. But his eyes are on God.
“Houston Texans wideout Tank Dell was carted off the field with what coach DeMeco Ryans called a ‘significant’ knee injury after he caught a touchdown pass during Saturday’s 27-19 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs,” ESPN reported.
CBS Sports later confirmed the injury as a “torn ACL along with a dislocated knee and other extensive damage to the knee. Dell also tore both his medial collateral ligament (MCL) and lateral collateral ligament (LCL) and suffered damage to his meniscus.”

Despite the season ending injury, Dell holds fast to his faith in Christ and shared an emotional video on his social media page.
“Just let it go. It is what it is. You just let it go. Put it in God’s hands and He’ll carry it. God is great,” he said. “You can know it all you want, but until you have to pick up that cross that you can’t carry and He picks it up for you and carries you and the cross, then you know.”
His teammate quarterback C.J. Stroud was overcome with emotion when Dell was carted off the field with his leg in a brace.
“To see something that he had really no control over and it’s not easy, so that’s where that comes from,” Stroud told the media. “And I think it’s just what God is doing in my life. He’s softening my heart in so many ways because I wouldn’t have done that, probably, last year. But just the new creation that I am in Christ, I’m constantly growing and just knowing who He is and reading his word. And me and Tank do a Bible study every week, at least twice a week.”
“And I hope that we can continue to keep going with that. But there’s so much hope that we have and had and that stuff doesn’t go anywhere just because tragedy strikes,” he continued. “So, I believe that we’ll get past this. There is light at the end of the tunnel, but it might be a long way to get there. And I think that was good for people to see that we’re just normal people at the end of the day.”
