Texas and ASU RBs Team Up for Post-Game Prayer

What do Arizona State’s Cam Skattebo and Texas Longhorns Nik Sanders have in common? Aside from being running backs for their respective teams, the two young men also share the same faith.
They put their faith on display at the College Football Playoff quarterfinal in Atlanta last week after the Longhorns beat the Sun Devils.
“With a 39-31 victory that took overtime, both teams fought incredibly hard, but the reality of sport is that there can be only one victor when two talented teams line up against each other. Some players were able to keep football in perspective after the game however as walk-on Texas running back Nick Sanders asked Arizona State superstar running back Cam Skattebo to join him in prayer,” Yellow Hammer News reported.
As the two running backs shook hands, Sanders asked Skattebo if he could pray for him.
A video shows the two players kneeling together in prayer before ending with a hug.

Skattebo pushed hard for his team, battling fluid loss which resulted in him “vomiting profusely” on the bench. But he reentered the game, pushing it into overtime.
He ended the night with “30 carries for 143 yards and two touchdowns, in addition to one 42-yard passing touchdown for a touchdown and eight receptions for 99 receiving yards,” Cydney Henderson with USA Today reported.
“That’s when it all started,” Skattebo said. “I had a rough first half, and I wasn’t feeling too good. That second half, it was a different ballgame.”
“We gave everything we had,” he added. “We never stopped. This is just the beginning for us. No matter what, these guys will be in my life forever. It’s awesome that I was able to play football for and with them.”
