‘Thank You Jesus’: Worship Artist Taya Announces Birth Of First Child

Christian singer Taya Smith-Gaukrodger is celebrating the birth of her first child!
“God has been beyond kind,” she wrote on Instagram, sharing her son’s name: Bo Benaiah Gaukrodger. “It is all a gift, thank You Jesus.”
The former Hillsong singer also shared the inspiration behind Bo’s name.
“3 years ago, Ben & I started discussing kids names as we needed to start the convo early because he liked traditional names and my name is Taya so yeah,” Gaukrodger wrote. “We decided to stop and ask God for a name, and left it at that.”
She continued, “Not long after, I woke up one morning with a strong prompting to google the word ‘BO’ in Hebrew, spelt exactly like that. This has only happened one other time. And it read, ‘ Bo (בֹּא—in Hebrew) the command form of ‘go,’ or ‘come.’”
“I see God’s kindness in Bo’s name,” Smith-Gaukrodger wrote. “That before his first breath, we were to remember that ultimately he belongs to the Lord. Whatever God asks of him through his life, we are to encourage obedience to the Lord in all things, reiterated each time we say his name. He is to be a man under authority, the authority of Almighty God. It is an honour to be your parents Bo, we love you beyond.”
She announced her pregnancy in November via Instagram.
“’A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices For yonder breaks, a new and glorious morn.'” Smith-Gaukrodger wrote. “These words have never felt more poignant or broken my heart wide open than in this season of waiting and anticipating, with expectant joy the arrival of our first child. The Lord’s timing is certainly beautiful, redemptive and perfect. For you my son, we would wait all over again.”
The singer also recently celebrated the release of her version of “O Holy Night.”
“I pray with each listen that it would cause your heart to rejoice exceedingly with great joy — that ultimately, you would hear our Heavenly Fathers beckoning, to join in the divine heralding of His Sons birth yet again,” Smith-Gaukrodger said.

Multi-platinum artist Taya Smith-Gaukrodger, who rose to fame through her performances with Hillsong United and Hillsong Worship, is getting ready to release her first solo album, Taya.
“I count it such a joy that I got to step into this with 14 older brothers in the worship team United,” she told The Christian Post. “They’re 14 brothers I didn’t ask for, but didn’t know that I would need. Stepping into all of this, getting to steward songs, it was a new thing for me. But it felt like the kindness of God to have brothers who would help me learn how to steward this and steward songs and getting to glean from their wisdom of so many years.”
The singer, who is professionally known as “Taya,” credits her time at Hillsong United for preparing her to release music on her own. She was especially thankful for the encouragement she received from Joel Houston, the lead singer of United.
God “knew that I would need someone to really encourage and to say, ‘Hey, I think this is on your life,’” she explained. “I knew that I was meant to be songwriting. I knew that I had something like this at some point, but I wasn’t going to be the person that’s like, ‘Hey, pick me.’ So it was actually Joel who really called it out and was like, ‘I think you need to be writing.’ Even though he didn’t know if I can do it. I hadn’t shown him.”
