THE BAD GUYS Sequel Gets 2025 Release Date

THE BAD GUYS 2 is officially hitting theaters in the summer of 2025.
The movie “follows the crackerjack criminal crew of animal outlaws who are struggling to find trust and acceptance in their newly minted lives as Good Guys,” Deadline reported. “However, they’re pulled out of retirement and forced to do “one last job” by an all-female squad of criminals.”
Stars Sam Rockwell, Marc Maron, Craig Robinson, Anthony Ramos and Awkwafina are all set to return for the sequel.
THE BAD GUYS was a huge success when it released in 2022, taking in over $250 million at the box office, per Box Office Mojo.
The Guardian praised the movie, describing it as “sharp, silly and frequently very funny” and drawing comparisons to LOONEY TUNES and the OCEAN’S ELEVEN franchise.

THE BAD GUYS is an excellent adventure filmed in a European animated style. The characters are engaging and likable, especially when they start to experience the power of doing good instead of evil. The movie is quite clever and witty, with several humorous moments. There are some questionable elements, such as cartoon violence, social drinking and euphemisms for expletives. One scene depicting some animals under mind control may be frightening to your children. The story in THE BAD GUYS is overwhelmingly positive, however, and outshines the negative elements. MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for younger children.

Animator Pierre Perifel took his turn in the director’s chair for the family-friendly heist movie, THE BAD GUYS and wanted to make sure the movie was something his children would appreciate.
THE BAD GUYS is about classic animal villains — Wolf, Snake, Shark, Tarantula, and Piranha — who team up together for a life of crime. However, when they’re given the opportunity to choose good instead of evil, they begin to see how rewarding it is to do the right thing. The movie incorporates very strong biblical values, paraphrases Scripture, and even references the Good Samaritan.
Redemption, self-sacrifice and calling out the good in others are “values that I want my children to grow up with,” Perifel tells Movieguide®.
“I think these guys were on the receiving end of [judgment], not having had the chance to be anything else then be the the villains of every story. I think that message is incredibly important to pass on to younger generations,” he said.
“Of course, it’s light hearted, it’s a comedy, it’s an action film, but I think [the values] still comes clearly throughout the film. Children get that, and reinforcing such positive messages with a fun story to watch is always a great way to inspire younger generations to be better people.”
THE BAD GUYS 2 is set to premiere August 1, 2025.
