THE CHOSEN Drops Season 4 Trailer

By Movieguide® Contributor

THE CHOSEN just dropped the official Season 4 trailer and announced that theatrical tickets for the upcoming season are now available.

“Clashing kingdoms. Rival rulers. The enemies of Jesus close in while His followers struggle to keep up, leaving Him to carry the burden alone. Threatened by the reality of Jesus’ growing influence, religious leaders do the unthinkable—ally with their Roman oppressors. As the seeds of betrayal are planted and opposition to Jesus’ message turns violent, He’s left with no alternative but demand his followers RISE UP,” a synopsis of Season 4 reads.

The trailer shows Jesus and his followers confronting new challenges as they move towards his coming crucifixion.

The eight-episode season will debut in theaters starting this February.

Episodes 1-3 will hit the big screen Feb. 1-14. Episodes 4-6 will arrive on Feb. 15-28, and episodes 7-8 will premiere Feb. 29-March 10. The season will be available across a variety of streaming platforms after the theatrical premieres.

Dallas Jenkins, director and creator of THE CHOSEN, said in a press release, “Last year we dipped our toes in the water by releasing a few episodes in theaters. The response was so strong, and Season Four is so big, that we knew we and Fathom had to give viewers the theatrical experience for all eight episodes.”

“After seeing the Season 4 episodes, we knew we’d be doing our fans a disservice if we denied them the chance to see them all on a big screen with others they can laugh and cry with,” he added, per PEOPLE.

“We’re excited to make history with THE CHOSEN,” Ray Nutt, Fathom Events CEO, added. “This collaboration has been such an amazing experience! Watching the fans come out in such large numbers to watch the story of Jesus on the big screen has been both informative and heartwarming. We look forward to bringing Season 4 to theaters so those fans can continue to share this story together.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Season 4:

THE CHOSEN star Elizabeth Tabish warns viewers about the show’s “painful” upcoming season.

“Hopefully, everyone’s been warned,” Tabish, who plays Mary Magdalene, said. “It’s a really painful season; there’s a lot of grief in this season.”

The actress explained that she often thinks about the end of the show, saying, “I realized after each season’s finished filming, oh, there’s more, and it gets harder; it’s going to get harder and more painful.”

“It’s showing up to work every day in the sun outside, crying over and over and over with all your friends,” Tabish said of filming THE CHOSEN’s difficult scenes. “Every time it’s over, after each season, there’s this relief of like, ‘Oh, I can rest,’ but not for long, knowing what’s coming up the line.”
