THE CHOSEN: LAST SUPPER premiered in theaters across the nation on Friday, and the box office numbers are off the charts.

According to Box Office Mojo, THE CHOSEN: LAST SUPPER aired in 2,478 theaters and gained a total of $11.5 million in revenue.

Season 5 of THE CHOSEN focuses on Holy Week, which follows the last days of Jesus’ life. This season will cover major events like “Judas’ betrayal, the Savior’s arrest, and the questions swirling in the minds of Jesus’ followers as His earthly life hangs in the balance,” per CBN’s Faithwire.

While on the press tour of Season 5, director and show creator Dallas Jenkins explained to CBN News what this season really focuses on.

“Can you trust, can you have faith, can you follow, even when you don’t understand?” Jenkins said. “Even in my personal life, there are times when I don’t understand what’s happening — I don’t understand what’s happening with my kids sometimes when they’re struggling, I don’t understand the future of this show a lot of the time, and this show is coming out of nothing; we’re constantly reinventing the wheel and asking God for favor and for advice.”

“Can I still follow and trust, even when I don’t understand?” the director asked. “The disciples were facing that in Season 5 in Holy Week, and now we face it.”

Jenkins also took time to share some celebrations from the Season 5 press tour.

“It’s easy to be so focused on the work that I don’t get a moment to enjoy the impact or the growth. And my job is 5&2…just want to make the best five loaves and two fishes I can, and if God multiplies, that’s great,” Jenkins wrote on Instagram.

“But every now and then we have an opportunity to celebrate. And Season 5 is something to celebrate, and I’m grateful we got to do so last night,” he added. “Can’t wait for you to see the episodes starting next week.”

Jenkins shared a few intimate and personal photos on the set of Season 5. He added in another post, “Yes, this season is big, but THE CHOSEN is just as much about moments like these…the intimate, the personal, the emotional.”

Jonathan Roumie, the actor who portrays Jesus, also spoke with CBN News, exploring his Season 5 experience.

“Steamroller. Bulldozer. Intensity. A melee of emotions and conflicts. Climax of conflicts between Jesus and the authorities,” Roumie said.

“Climactic frustrations between Jesus and His disciples – their inability to get what He is telling them within days of it happening. It will be the most beautiful, the most complex, most intense season we have ever done,” he added.
