THE CHOSEN Actor Noah James Explains Why Show Is So Relatable

Noah James, who plays Andrew on THE CHOSEN, explained why he believes the show has reached such a wide audience and connected to them on a deep level.
“The show is so focused on being as authentic as possible, so it really feels like, ‘What would it feel like? What if I were to live two thousand years ago? If I were to follow in Jesus’s footsteps and be one of his disciples?’” James told Fox News. “I think that’s what draws people in.”
“That’s the thing that people connect to because you go, ‘What if I wasn’t eating for three days? What if I was sent out two-by-two to preach in sometimes really volatile situations.’ And it really makes you think how would I deal with that,” James continued. “I think we sort of intellectualize it but this show, it shows us the blood sweat and tears that really went into it.”
Part of the show’s draw also comes from the way it provides new insight into the lives of Jesus and His disciples. While the show is entirely based on the Biblical narrative and focuses on historical accuracy, it also includes interactions and responses that are made up by Dallas Jenkins and his team to add to the story.

“I think, really, [THE CHOSEN] is about letting us see, you know, what would my heart feel like if I was seeing these miracles, if I was seeing someone healed right in front of me, and then we get to go off and see those conversations that you don’t necessarily have in the Gospels. But other than that, everything is scripturally accurate,” James said.
While THE CHOSEN has had a profound impact on hundreds of millions of viewers, it has also made a large impact on many of the cast. James is no exception, as he came into the show without much knowledge about Jesus.
“I came into this completely from the outside,” James said. “I’m Jewish, brought up Jewish, and I didn’t know what to expect flying into the middle of Texas, you know, joining the show. And I’ve learned so more about Jesus and his teaching that I had in my entire life up to this point. I mean, we’re watching the Sermon on the Mount, it’s sort of like no better way to learn about Jesus.”

“It is coming to you early April 2025,” Jenkins said last month. “I don’t exactly if it’s the first or second week just yet. We’re working out the details. But it will be early April.”
“If Season 5 of THE CHOSEN follows the same release strategy as Season 4 (prior to the delay), new episodes could begin streaming a few weeks after their theatrical run concludes,” The Direct speculated, adding that the season could land on THE CHOSEN’s free streaming app as early as May or June 2025.
“It’s actually heartbreaking at times because we know we’re getting closer and closer to the cross,” Jenkins added of Season 5. “We’re going to get to see some iconic moments from Scripture, but we’re also going to, I believe, be drawn closer to who Jesus was because of his suffering.”
