The DUCK DYNASTY Family Just Got an Answer to Prayer
By Movieguide® Contributor
DUCK DYNASTY patriarch Phil Robertson is showing improvement after his diagnosis with Alzheimer’s — an answer to the family’s prayers.
Phil’s son, Jase Robertson, said that when the family announced Phil’s condition, “his spirit became better.”
“I just really believe now more than ever in the power of prayer, and you get as many people [as possible] praying for my dad, and we’re very grateful for that,” he said.
“I was thinking that he only had a few days to live,” he continued. “When we went public with it, I was amazed because I took my son down there and he was like, ‘Well, he’s doing a lot better than I thought. This is the best I’ve seen him in months.”
He credits it to “answered prayer.”
Jase’s older brother, Al, said Phil’s condition is “day-to-day.”
“So, one day, he may be a little bit stronger mentally and physically than another day,” he said.

The family first announced Phil was ill last December. In addition to Alzheimer’s, Phil has a blood disease that “attacks his bones,” which led to multiple back fractures and a tailbone fracture.
Phil’s wife, Kay, just had a serious fall last month.
“Kay had another fall, which, she falls a lot. And it was a substantial injury, but she’s doing pretty well,” said Jase.
“The people that are around them 24/7, because we obviously can’t be there at all times, sent us a graphic picture right when she cut her leg and it was severe,” Jase said. “I was fixed to get up on stage and see this picture of my mom, and I was like, ‘Oh man. Get her to the hospital.’”
Now, she is doing “well” and is recovering at home.
The DUCK DYNASTY show launched in 2012 and went off air in 2017. This summer, there will be a new reboot focusing on Willie Robertson’s family and his adult kids.
In a recent episode of Sadie Roberston Huff’s “Whoa That’s Good” podcast, she and her husband, Christian Huff, said the new show will be different than the original show and more like THE OFFICE.
“I think the show is super super funny…it’s like if DUCK DYNASTY and THE OFFICE made a baby,” Christian joked.
“Because that’s how our actual office is, and our family,” Sadie said.
