Former NFL pro and charity superstar Tim Tebow shared his miracle birth story with Jordan Peterson this week.
“In 1986, my dad was preaching in a remote village in the Philippines. Before he went on stage to preach, he just started to weep for all of the babies that were being aborted around the world,” Tebow told Peterson on Peterson’s podcast this week.
“My mom and dad had four kids at the time, living in the Philippines, and as he was weeping, he felt God put it on his heart to have another child.”
When Tebow’s dad got home and told his wife, she was surprised.
“My mom’s like, ‘Well, God didn’t put it on my heart, so I don’t know what you want to do.’ She started to pray about it, and not long after, God put it on her heart,” Tebow shared. “And not long after that, she became pregnant — at least they thought she was pregnant.”
The Tebows soon got some disconcerting news.
“Some of the doctors said, ‘No, it’s not a baby. It’s a tumor. It’s a massive fetal tissue,’ and long story made short, it was a baby, and they wanted her to have an abortion, or it’ll cost her her life and my life,” he said.
“I’m just so grateful for my mom and my dad because, in the middle of this, they trusted God and loved me and gave me a chance.”
When Tebow was born, the placenta was barely attached, which restricted his nourishment. He was born malnourished at 7 lbs.
The doctor who delivered him said his birth was “the greatest miracle [he had] ever seen.”

Tebow’s mom, Pam, said, “There was just a tiny piece of placenta that was attached to him and he said there was no explanation for how he survived all of those months in the womb.”
Tebow grew up to be the biggest of his four siblings and a Heisman Trophy winner. His foundation, responsible for worldwide Night to Shine events for kids and young people who are differently abled, has significantly impacted millions of lives.
As Tebow reflects on his miraculous birth this month, he looks forward to his daughter’s birth, who is due in June.
When Tebow and his wife, Demi-Leigh, revealed their baby’s gender, they chose a verse for her.
“The verse we want to speak over our baby girl is Psalm 25:4-5: ‘Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long,” Demi shared.
“We pray that she always finds her identity in Christ and places her hope in His love and truth. Now, let’s get this nursery in order! Bring on the pink bows, ruffles, and all things sweet🥰”
