‘Amazing’: THE LAST SUPPER Producers Say Movie ‘Brings God’s Word to Life’
By Movieguide® Contributor
The producers behind the upcoming THE LAST SUPPER recently shared what they hope audiences take away from the movie.
“It’s so powerfully told, right from the scripture,” Chris Tomlin, the executive producer, told Movieguide®. “This is not Hollywood at all. It is really ministry.”
He continued, “I think it brings God’s word to life in such a beautiful, accurate, [and] powerful way….When I saw the film…I was like, ‘This is amazing!’ because it really brings to life this kind of last week of Jesus.”
Producer Michael Scott echoed his comments, saying, “It’s so rich in what it brought to life.”
“I can’t wait for people to see this,” Tomlin said. “I would encourage people to see it together because…this does not need to be seen on a phone, you know what I’m saying?”
“You’ve got to go to the theater to see it because when you see it on that big screen, it’s like it comes to life,” Scott added. “I think, obviously, THE LAST SUPPER going into Easter is something that I think families need to gather around. They need to see that story visually come to life.”
Tomlin also shared his excitement for the increase in faith-based content in Hollywood.
“I love this moment in time,” he said. “I feel like right now, in our world, people are just longing for this kind of content and people are attracted to it more and more. It’s being done in such an incredible way.”

A synopsis of THE LAST SUPPER calls it “a powerful cinematic Biblical journey that brings to life the ultimate act of love and sacrifice as seen through the eyes of those who walked alongside Jesus.”
“This reimagining unveils untold perspectives, offering a deeply human and spiritual exploration of the moments that shaped history and faith,” the synopsis continues. “Through the diverse voices surrounding Him, the story invites audiences to witness a powerful and intimate portrayal of redemption and grace. Embark on an extraordinary cinematic journey where a timeless story comes to life, faith finds new depth, and the power of belief unfolds in a way you’ve never experienced before.”
In an interview with The Collision, Scott spoke about the efforts the movie’s crew took to maintain biblical accuracy.
“It was crucial,” he explained. “I’ve done some biblical films in the past, and you have to fill in some gaps. You have to get from point A to point B sometimes. But we wanted to make sure that this film was theologically accurate, that it followed the beats that are in Scripture and mirrored what the characters were going through.”
Scott continued, “We brought in theologians and pastors to look at the film. We even did some reshoots to make sure what we put on screen was an accurate reflection of the Word of God. I think that’s so important, because the Word is powerful. It doesn’t need to be changed.”
