LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER Confirmed for Season 3

Prime Video just confirmed a third season for THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER.

“THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER continues to captivate audiences worldwide, and we’re thrilled that a third season is underway,” Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, said in a press release. “The creative team has an extraordinary vision of what’s to come, with stories that have left us enchanted and enthralled. We look forward to continuing this epic journey for our global customers, delving even deeper into the legendary tales that shaped Middle-earth.”

According to Variety, a third season is not “a surprise, as Season 2 ended on some major cliffhangers that seemed to tease that a third season was inevitable.”

So what will Season 3 be about?

“Jumping forward several years from the events of Season 2, Season 3 takes place at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, as the Dark Lord seeks to craft the One Ring that will give him the edge he needs to win the war and conquer all Middle-earth at last,” the show announced on Instagram.

The season is in pre-production, and filming will begin this spring.

Fans, meanwhile, can’t wait to see what’s next.

“I love this. It reminds me of the Star Wars scrolling text that starts each show or movie,” another said.
