THE VOICE’s Jordan Smith Drops New Single, ‘Can’t Wait’ to Sing on Upcoming Tour

THE VOICE winner and Christian artist Jordan Smith just released a new single, “This Is Jesus,” an anthem for Christians and the theme song for an upcoming tour.

“I love how the song and music video personifies the universality of Jesus,” McKay Crockett, one of the song’s co-writers, told The Christian Beat. “He is for every person, from every walk of life.”

“This Is Jesus” was released with a music video that features a variety of dancers, from amateurs to pros, demonstrating how Jesus is for everyone, regardless of their life experiences.

The song also serves as a theme song for an upcoming tour, also called “This Is Jesus.” Smith will hit the road alongside some other noteworthy Christian artists.

“I can’t wait to sing this song for you live, alongside my friends Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman and Jordin Sparks,” THE VOICE star posted on YouTube.

Smith and Sparks both recently appeared at the “Together in Christ” concert that kicked off the Utah Area YSA conference.

“My prayer is that everything I do reflects God’s goodness and His love,” Smith said while onstage.

Sparks also took some time onstage to talk about her faith, saying, “I’m really grateful for Jesus’ role in my life and how He’s been with me through my journey.”

Smith has been releasing Christian music since he won Season 9 of THE VOICE. Movieguide® previously reported:

In 2015, Jordan Smith won season 9 of NBC’s THE VOICE and has since grown to become the best-selling artist in the show’s history.

However, fans who watched Smith’s original audition on THE VOICE, where he wowed judges with his rendition of “Chandelier,” will remember his singing roots began in the church of his hometown, in rural Kentucky. Recently, the pop singer announced his first Christian single and hopes to release a full album to honor God.

“It’s really special for me to take this moment and say back to the Lord, let everything I am declare your glory, to help tell your story, the story of your Gospel. Let everything I am point the world back to you,” Smith told The Christian Post.

The song is called “Great You Are” and is Smith’s first explicitly Christian song which he co-wrote with Jeff Sojka and Matt Armstrong.

“When we wrote this song … I knew it was special. But I didn’t take a moment and stop and think about how special it was for me as an artist and the journey that I’ve been on since ‘The Voice,’” Smith said, adding later: “It’s really special for me to be able to have the moment to return my gift to the Lord and to point the glory back to Him. We are all just that; we’re just reflections of God’s love to the world.”
