Tim Allen Brags TOY STORY 5 ‘Is a Really Good Story, Guys. It’s Really Good.’

Buzz Lightyear voice actor Tim Allen just recorded his “first five-hour” recording session for TOY STORY 5 and promises it’ll be a treat.
“Well, I don’t know what I’m supposed to say. Yes, I just did the first five-hour session for Buzz, probably a week ago,” Allen told Collider while promoting his new sitcom, SHIFTING GEARS. “It’s really, really weird to get back in it. I can’t tell you anything.”
“It’s a very, very clever story,” said Allen, who won a Teddy Bear Award® for his performance in LAST MAN STANDING. “I don’t really believe it’s about the money. I’m sure they want it to be a success, but that’s not why they did it. Had they not come up with a brilliant script, they wouldn’t have done it and they wouldn’t have called me and Tom [Hanks]. It’s really clever.”
Many were concerned that TOY STORY 4 was just made for the money, too, but it made over $1 billion globally and earned great reviews, including from Movieguide®.
TOY STORY 4 has some incredible pro-family, pro-redemption, pro-self-sacrifice messages, in a very exciting, entertaining story. The importance of toys taking care of children is stressed constantly, but there’s also the importance of maturing and finding real love with good positive, male/female monogamous relationships being the end result. Every character has a great character arc, with a couple characters experiencing an epiphany and being truly transformed. It would be hard to find a better story. TOY STORY 4 will capture your heart. However, there are some pretty scary scenes. So, please be careful about your child’s sensitivity when deciding if TOY STORY 4 is appropriate for them.

Variety reported, “The film set a record at the time for the biggest animated film launch ever with $244.5 million and went on to win the Oscar for best animated feature. TOY STORY 3 also won the Oscar and grossed more than $1 billion.”
Allen calls it a blessing to play the renowned spaceman character.
“It was really a struggle to get, and then maybe two hours in, I was doing Buzz. I’m so blessed to be Buzz Lightyear, to be honest. It’s gonna be fun,” THE SANTA CLAUSE star said.
“I think we’re a year out. I’ve gotten up to the third act. We’ll do the third act. And then, we’ll go back and clean it. And then, I’ll do it about five more times,” Allen said.
He added, “It’s a really good story, guys. It’s really good.”
“Andrew Stanton is directing TOY STORY 5, which will center on Buzz, Woody and the rest of the toys as they go head to head with the electronics that now consume the attention of children,” Variety reported. “Stanton has writing credits on all the TOY STORY movies and won Oscars for his acclaimed Pixar efforts FINDING NEMO and WALL-E.”
Allen has voiced Buzz in every TOY STORY movie. The first one came out 31 years ago, in 1995. The fifth installment is expected to be released in 2026.
