Tim Tebow Encourages Fans to ‘Know, Value and Trust God’s Truth’

Tim Tebow took to Instagram recently to share something new he learned while reading the Bible.
He began by sharing how a commonly quoted verse came alive to him in a new way.
“Some of the most popular verses in the bible are Proverbs 3:5-6. But have you ever noticed what comes before?” Tebow said. “If you’re anything like me, you’ve realized that you often miss some of the power of a verse when you don’t know its context. For most of my life, when I’ve read Proverbs 3, my focus goes directly to these verses: ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight (3:5-6).”
Tebow then explained how although these verses are wonderful, he never really focused on the verses that come before.
“These have been some of my favorite verses for my entire life,” he said. “They challenge us to surrender control and rely on God, not ourself. However, when I was reading recently, I was convicted by two things that come before.”
First, Tebow realized the importance of trusting God’s instruction, based on Proverbs 3:1.
“I just think it’s so fascinating that before Solomon tells us to trust fully, he says to know and value God’s instruction,” he said. “This makes so much sense — we can’t lean on truth and follow His commands if we don’t even know them. When we value God’s teaching, we realize His ‘understanding’ is (much) greater than ours, making it easier for us to trust Him.”
The second lesson he learned? “Strive to live with kindness and truth (3:3).”
“Often times we only reinforce the need to seek and share truth but also important is the kindness we do it with. The bible says that what is desired in a man is kindness (Proverbs 19:22) and its God’s kindness that brings people to repentance (Romans 2:4). So as we seek to know and share truth, let’s remember that it must also be through kindness.”
Tebow concluded by telling his Instagram followers the new meaning he found in the passage.
“So, I am seeing more and more that as we know, value, and trust God’s truth and instruction, the more our path will naturally be guided by Him,” he said. “And, not only are we called to bring this truth to the world, but we are to do so in the same kindness that Christ has already shown us.”
