Tim Tebow Addresses Good and Evil After New Orleans Terror Attack

Evangelist and college football analyst Tim Tebow took a moment before the Allstate Sugar Bowl to reflect on the Jan. 1 terror attack in New Orleans, Louisiana.

“It’s hard to put into words what happened yesterday morning. We got up and we heard about the news,” Tebow began. “My wife, Demi, looked at me and she said, ‘I want to say Happy New Year’s. I just can’t.’ And that’s still the way that we feel. We want to be able to celebrate a game, but it’s hard to be able to do that when so many people are dealing with such loss and such pain. And it’s a reminder that there is still evil in this world.”

Early Wednesday morning, a driver drove a pickup truck into a crowd of people celebrating New Year’s on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, killing 14 and wounding at least 35 others, Time reported.

But despite the immense evil, Tebow also experienced the good in the world that day.

“We got to get up and go to the Allstate AFCA Good Works team breakfast, and we got to be reminded of the good that’s in this world, of all these young men that are putting, serving other people ahead of themselves,” the Heisman trophy winner said. “And it was a reminder that, yes, there is evil in this world, but there is also a lot of good people doing good.”

He thanked the first responders and other people who have rallied around those affected with support and prayer.

“And yesterday, some of the young men said, ‘Hey, can we get together? Can we stop, can we hold on this breakfast so that we can pray for all those people that have been lost and the families that are grieving?'”

“So right now, when we’re dealing with a time of loss, I also want to remind all the people that are watching that we’re also dealing in a time where so many people have responded, I’m so grateful for those people. So [when] there’s sadness, there’s also hope in the good of so many people,” Tebow concluded.
