Tim Tebow’s New Year Encouragement: ‘You Have a Purpose’

Tim Tebow’s New Year Encouragement: ‘You Have a Purpose’

By Movieguide® Contributor

What are you going to do with this day, with this moment, with this year, with this life?” former NFL player Tim Tebow asked his social media followers on Jan. 1.

“I believe you are here for a reason; you have a purpose. Make 2024 count!” the athlete posted with video clips of an inspirational message.

In the video, Tebow says, “I had two quotes on my wall when I was young and growing up. One of them was, “Somewhere, he is out there training while I am not, and when we meet, he will win. ‘”

“It was the thought of I want to be my best,” he continued. “So, somewhere, he is waking up in the middle of the night, and he is training. So you know what? I better wake up in the middle of the night too. “

Tebow expressed that the desire to be better pushed him. He didn’t want to lose the “fight” if one came his way.

“I can’t get up in the middle of the night because I want to have a work ethic, but I can get up in the middle of the night because I have a conviction that I want to be my best because I have one life, one opportunity, one chance. That can get me up at night, not because…’I want to be a hard worker’…there’s no weight behind [that],” Tebow said.

“But if you think in your life you have one chance to be your best and every single one of us had that same chance…Are we going to wake up and say with this day, with this moment, with this year, with my life, with this chance, it means that we care so much about something, we are willing to suffer for it?” he finished with conviction.

Tebow’s message can be applied to endurance and physical battles, but it can also be applied to the sacrifice that Christians make as followers of Christ.

In this life, we will suffer, just like Christ,” Tebow tweeted in 2018. “He was tempted and tried, just like you and me. But many times, we don’t find our deepest calling or purpose without suffering along the way. Jesus is our model for both passion and compassion despite life’s circumstances!”

Movieguide® previously reported on Tebow’s message to fans about fear:

“Do you feel like God is instructing you to do something that makes no sense? Are you afraid that if you start doing it, people will judge and criticize you? Remember that things that seem impossible with man are possible with God!” he began

“Success starts with a mindset shift,” he continued. “Let go of yesterday’s disappointments and focus on the now…”

“You know those days when the alarm clock goes off and you think, ‘I don’t want to get up. I don’t want to do this.’ But we don’t have to live by our emotions,” Tebow reminded his followers. “We get to choose our convictions. Some days we might not feel grateful, especially when adversity hits. But we can choose to be grateful, even in the midst of it. Watch how that can change your day!”

One week ago, the NFL star reflected on why he loves Christmas. For him, it’s an annual reminder of the good news of Jesus’ arrival in the world and how he sacrificed himself and conquered sin and death for all mankind.

He posed a powerful question to his social media followers that day: “If you don’t know Jesus, but you believe what he did, would you say yes to him today?”
