Tom Brady to Star in Netflix’s First Live Roast with Kevin Hart

On Monday, Tom Brady popped up on TODAY’s PopStart segment to share that he’ll be the first subject of Netflix’s first-ever live roast special.

“During the course of his 23-year career in the NFL, Tom Brady was attacked from all sides and from every angle. Yet he was able to survive – and thrive – winning a record seven Super Bowl titles,” USA Today said. “However, Brady will soon face a type of pressure that’s completely different from anything he’s ever seen.”

On May 5, Brady, Kevin Hart and other sports professionals and celebrities will appear in Netflix’s GROAT – THE GREATEST ROAST OF ALL TIME.

“The roast…isn’t just a first for the streaming platform,” TODAY reported. “It will make history as the only live roast to air unedited and uncensored, on television or streaming.”

The roast will be a feature of the platform’s annual NETFLIX IS A JOKE FEST.

“Hart reveals that a lineup of ‘surprise guests’ will join him to poke fun at Brady. One of those famous faces will likely be comedian Jeff Ross,” TODAY reported.

In the trailer, Brady walks away from an arena, which is on fire. Ross emerges from the rubble, shouting, “We’re coming for you, pretty boy!”

“Hart has been announced as the host of Brady’s roast,” TODAY said. “Those signed on to roast the former NFL player will be revealed at a later date. Some of the roasters are expected to be comedians, like Hart and Ross, as well as athletes and other celebrities.”

The special has been a long time coming, as Netflix first announced Brady’s roast in May 2022.

Yahoo! Sports said, “Will he still be smiling by the end of his roast, or will he have a dead-eyed fake smile pasted on his face while he stares into the middle distance, wondering how he ended up here, with his marriage and legendary, hard-earned football career reduced to a couple of gags at the Netflix chuckle factory? We only have to wait until May 5 to find out.”

Movieguide® reported on Brady:

Former NFL quarterback and legend Tom Brady joined SiriusXM’s “Let’s Go! With Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald, and Jim Gray” podcast to discuss life after retirement and his time with his kids…

Brady then talked about his kids, Benjamin and Vivian, and their new endeavors with football and soccer.

“My son is gonna play football this year, Benny, so I’ve been throwing the ball to him in the backyard,” Brady expressed. “And he wants to be a tight end like Gronk, and he’s gonna be a little beast. He’s an amazing kid and he’s got a lot of talents. He’s a really talented musician and artist. And then he told me this year, ‘Dad, I’m playing football.’ And I was like, ‘What do you wanna play?’ And he was like, ‘Tight end. I wanna be like Gronk!’ So, I actually texted Gronk and I’m like, ‘Yo, my boy wants to be like you!’ And he loved it.”

“My daughter’s got me kicking the soccer ball,” he stated. “And [I’m] really enjoying this new experience. And there’s so much to life that is here to live. And I was very blessed to play for as long as I did, and I loved it.”

Since Brady has retired from professional football, he’s enjoyed spending more time with his family.
