Tori Kelly: ‘My Faith Is Everything To Me’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Grammy-winning singer Tori Kelly says faith is “a daily thing” in her life.
“My faith is everything to me,” she said during an interview with YouVersion. “I did grow up in the church, but I think, maybe like some other people who grew up in the church, you kind of get to a point where your faith really becomes your own. It’s not about what your parents say or what they believe, but it’s really like, ‘Oh, no, this is real to me. I’ve experienced the presence of God and I know that this is my own faith.’ It’s a daily thing.”
Part of her daily spiritual routine is “spending time in my Word,” the singer shared.
“We have to be intentional about just sitting down with God,” Kelly explained. “He loves that. He wants to spend time with us.”
She continued, “[The Bible] is life to me. I don’t really know how else to explain it, other than it’s so essential and crucial.”
Kelly went on to say that when she breaks her habit of reading the Bible each day, she feels “horrible…like I don’t hear God’s voice.”
“It’s that routine,” she explained. “Just like anything else. It’s like working out. I’m not going to see a change in one day, maybe not even after one week, but after a while…you keep at it, and it’s like, ‘Oh!’”
Kelly frequently talks about her faith and how it has guided her through her career in the music industry.
“It really comes down to knowing what your priorities are and knowing that all of this is amazing,” Kelly said during an appearance on THE ALLY BROOKE SHOW PODCAST, referring to her music career. “What we get to do is amazing, right? And not everyone gets to do this. There’s a very, very small group of people in the world that gets to do what we do. And it’s incredible. And [I’m] so grateful for it.”
She continued, “But I think what’s helped me kind of stay grounded, if you will, is just knowing that I’m still just Tori. If all of that went away, my identity is in Christ. And my identity is in who God says that I am.”
While Kelly has earned awards and acclaim for her music, she is quick to emphasize that her faith is still the most important thing in her life.
“In my line of work it’s kind of built up to be about me…which is scary. It’s terrifying. That’s the biggest challenge,” she shared. “I can’t rely on these accomplishments, these goals, and these dreams, which are great and good things…but even good things can be idols.”

Grammy-winning artist Tori Kelly is discussing her faith and encouraging others to find their identity in Christ in a new interview with The Christian Post.
“Anyone who knows me personally … [faith is] a part of who I am,” Kelly shared. “It’s been such a part of my life, in my childhood growing up. But then, at a certain point, it became very personal to me.”
“Personally speaking, that has helped me to….make sure I’m grounded in truth, in reminding myself who I am,” the “Hollow” singer said. “I’m loved by God; listening to who He says that I am….instead of what the world says, which is very hard to do, and something that I struggle with as well. We’re all in this together. We’re all figuring it out.”
