TRANSFORMERS Introduces Non-Binary Characters — Parents Aren’t Pleased

By Movieguide® Contributor

In 2023, TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK introduced two non-binary characters, but parents are saying they don’t want LGTBQ ideology in their kids’ shows.

A clip from the show went viral: “My pronouns are they/them,” a robot named Nightshade says to a human character named Sam. Sam says, “I’m she/they[…] I’m sorry for how I reacted. It’s just sometimes the world can be a scary place. It’s hard to know who’s dangerous or not…I know I’m safe when I’m with my friends or other non-binary people.”

“Non-binary?” the robot asks. “People who aren’t female or male[…],” Sam says.

The robot, pleased, says, “I always knew my pronouns felt right, but what a wonderful word for a wonderful experience.’

In another episode, Optimus Prime learns of Nightshade’s pronouns and apologizes for previously addressing the robot differently.

Fox host Laura Ingraham discussed the clip on her show, THE INGRAHAM ANGLE.

“Now, as a parent, you often ask yourself what do my kids need? […] But you probably never thought what they really, really need is a non-binary robot,” she said. “But that’s exactly what Paramount thinks they need because in TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK, that’s what they’re giving them.”

“The series is made for kids ages 7 and up[…] The show is shoving these inane pronouns down the throats of seven-year-olds[…] These are destructive and corrosive lies,” she said. “And they’re only gonna end when enough responsible adults say, ‘Cut it out[…].”

Many commentators expressed concern over the ideology displayed in this cartoon.

One said, “Gender identification is not a fool-proof method of determining safety. That’s a dangerous idea.” Another commented, “So grateful my son is now grown and not subjected to this.”

“Pretty soon until the cars aren’t the only thing transforming on this show,” someone said.

Many shows and companies are finding their support of LGBTQ initiatives is massively backfiring. Bud Light, Target, Hershey’s and Jack Daniels all received backlash for displaying trans representation in their products.

Parents have boycotted COCOMELON LANE for featuring a gay couple and a little boy in a tutu and tiara.

“If you’re not sure what to choose, think about all the things you like to do, just be you,” the couple sings to the boy.

BLUEY is also getting backlash for a same-sex couple mentioned in Season 3’s finale.

“My mums told me he might come back, but he didn’t,” a dog named Pretzel says about his missing guinea pig.

Parents must exercise discernment when they choose what their kids watch.

Dr. Ted Baehr wrote in his book “The Culture Wise Family:”

Movieguide’s® annual study of the major movies released by Hollywood shows that people clearly do not like to see strong public displays of homosexual behavior—such as that portrayed in Brokeback Mountain, Kinsey, and Tying The Knot—no matter what they think of how the Bible strongly condemns homosexual behavior…The box office figures suggest that homosexuals either do not support movies or they are less than one percent of the population. Studies show that many who try homosexuality turn away from it and many that are in that lifestyle abhor it.
