Comedian Reminds Kids ‘God Knows Their Name’ in New Book
By Movieguide® Contributor
Comedian Trey Kennedy is now a children’s book author.
The social media star shared about how his own children — along with his comedy career — inspired him to create a light-hearted comedy book for kids titled “
“When one little guy asks his parents about how they chose his name, he’s in for a wild ride!” the synopsis reads. “Readers will giggle at the silly names the parents in the story almost picked as they’re inspired by everything around them, including playground equipment, the foods in the grocery store, and cell phone sounds. The funny and sweet story ends with a beautiful reminder for kids that God knows their name too.”
“My oldest son, getting to read him my own book’s been amazing,” the father-of-two told GOOD MORNING AMERICA. “We had the opportunity to write a children’s book, it was no hesitation. I was like ‘That’d be so fun.'”
Kennedy, who has mocked unique and sometimes strange names in his comedy skits, explained how he chose Thomas and Eva for his own children’s names.
“[They are] family names,” he explained. “That’s always a nice cop out because I kind of painted myself in a corner here. I’ve made fun of names so much, people were like ‘What’s he going to do?’ There’s a lot of pressure. We just went family names, Thomas… Eva…I feel like they’re good names.”

In a comedy skit posted to Instagram, Kennedy promoted his book in a funny way.
He played two parents who are frantically trying to get their kids ready for bed.
“Story time, do you like this?” “Oh, he doesn’t like that one…He doesn’t want to read that one,” he said, playing the mom trying to help the dad find a good book for their kid.
“I just wish that there was a book that was more fun to read,” he said. “I just wish my favorite influencer Trey Kennedy came out with a book. I wish there was a book that was fun for both the parents and the kids coming out this November.”
Kennedy then bursts through the door dressed as himself. “There is! My debut children’s book ‘How You Got Your Name’ is available November 12th… you can find it pretty much wherever you found these other boring books,” he joked.
Kennedy commented on his post, saying “Y’all I made sure my book isn’t miserable to read for the parents. It’s funny and kids love it too!! It’s the least I can do.”
