Angel Studios will release a special movie based on the real-life heroic acts of a 16-year-old in Nazi Germany this fall, an announcement the studio made at CinemaCon.
The movie, titled TRUTH & TREASON, follows Helmuth Hübener who formed a resistance group with his friends during Nazi Germany after one friend was taken.
“TRUTH & TREASON is a riveting, edge-of-your-seat film, where one teenage boy stands against the deadliest threat the world has ever faced,” Brandon Purdie, EVP & Head of Theatrical at Angel Studios, said in a statement. “Matt Whitaker’s direction brings Helmuth Hübener’s incredible story to life, thrilling and inspiring audiences while leaving them profoundly moved. Stories of this magnitude were made for the biggest screen possible — a cinematic experience best felt in a theater, where every moment resonates with full intensity.”
Writer and director Matt Whitaker expressed his admiration for this heroic story.
“I was fortunate to discover one of the most powerful stories to come out of WWII, and almost no one has heard of it. I can’t wait for the world to experience this incredible story of heroism,” he said.
It stars Ewan Horrocks, known for his roles in THE LAST KINGDOM: SEVEN KINGS MUST DIE (2023) and DOMINA (2021).
The studio just dropped the trailer earlier this week. TRUTH & TREASON will release Oct. 17, 2025.
