Update: Tori Kelly ‘Feeling Stronger’ After Hospitalization
By Movieguide® Contributor
Singer-songwriter Tori Kelly is “feeling stronger” after being rushed to the hospital on Sunday for multiple blood clots.
“Hi friends,” Kelly wrote in a note posted to social media. “As you may have heard, i’m dealing with some unexpected health challenges. It’s been a scary few days, but I can feel your prayers & can’t stop thinking about you.”
She reassured fans she was “feeling stronger” and “hopeful” but will remain in the hospital as doctors continue to work on her condition and recovery.
The singer was set to release a new EP this week.
“Of course I’m heartbroken about all of the things I had planned for this week of releasing my EP,” Kelly wrote. “But I know my health must come first.”
“Until I see you again, I still want you to enjoy a project that represents the happy place I’ve been in the last few years. I won’t let this hurdle prevent the music from yours on Friday!” she added.
Kelly added Deuteronomy 31:8 in her caption, which reads, “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
The singer was hospitalized on Sunday after collapsing at a restaurant. TMZ reported that she was unconscious “for awhile” as she was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
At the hospital, doctors found blood clots in her legs and near her lungs.
Kelly’s husband, former basketball player André Murillo, also shared a health update for the singer in an Instagram story.
“Tori is smiling again and feeling stronger,” he wrote. “Not fully out of the woods, but we see the sun. Just waiting on a few more answers.”
He also shared a video of Kelly singing “Where Do I Fit In,” her 2021 gospel collaboration with Justin Bieber.
“When I’m all alone and fear is all I see / Sittin’ in the silence with these insecurities / And then you remind me, you’re holdin’ me tight / And you love me completely, you’re always by my side,” Kelly sings on the track.
Continue to pray for Kelly as she recovers.
Kelly has always been open about her Christian faith. Movieguide® previously reported:
Grammy-winning artist Tori Kelly is discussing her faith and encouraging others to find their identity in Christ in a new interview with The Christian Post.
“Anyone who knows me personally … [faith is] a part of who I am,” Kelly shared. “It’s been such a part of my life, in my childhood growing up. But then, at a certain point, it became very personal to me.”
She also encouraged her young fans to take a step back from social media and center themselves with Scripture.
“Personally speaking, that has helped me to….make sure I’m grounded in truth, in reminding myself who I am,” the “Hollow” singer said. “I’m loved by God; listening to who He says that I am….instead of what the world says, which is very hard to do, and something that I struggle with as well. We’re all in this together. We’re all figuring it out.”
