Vikings Fullback C.J. Ham Talks Maturing in Christ: ‘Impact the Kingdom’

Minnesota Vikings fullback C.J. Ham is a faithful follower of Christ and often lets his faith show on and off the field.

“C.J. Ham is the starting fullback for the Minnesota Vikings. He was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2016, and after being cut, was signed to the Vikings’ practice squad just before the start of the season. In December that year, Ham was signed to the active roster and made his NFL debut,” Sports Spectrum reported.

While on “The Conversation” podcast with pastor Adam Weber, Ham discussed what maturing in his faith has looked like within football.

“Over the years as I’ve matured in my faith and just gotten older and just realized that life is short and God is good, you know, so, what can I do to, you know, impact the kingdom? And just whatever happens, happens. I’m going to go out there and try to be my best on the field,” Ham began.

“But at the end of the day, when I’m standing face to face with our Lord, he’s going to ask me what I did for him and His kingdom,” he continued. “It’s not about how many touchdowns I scored. It’s not about how many Pro Bowls or anything like that. It’s who did you help lead to Christ? Who did you love on? Who did you give to? Were you a good steward? Were you a good neighbor?”

“Those are the things that I’ve realized are the most important,” Ham declared. “Obviously, I want to be a great player, but at the end of the day, I want to be the best follower of Christ that I can be because that’s what matters.”

Ham also takes time out of his busy schedule to host football camps for young athletes who aspire to play the game.
