How This Hallmark Actor ‘Flipped the Script’ to Highlight Authentic Christmas

Wes Brown has been in his fair share of holiday Hallmark movies, but this year, he wanted to do something different.
In Hallmark’s READY, SET, GLOW! Brown travels across the U.S. finding families with the brightest Christmas light displays and most heartwarming traditions.
“The initial thoughts were we were driving through rural Vermont, and I was saying, man, all of these towns look like Hallmark movies,” Brown told Movieguide®. “What if we showcased them? Our audience gets to watch us all the time in our feature films. What if we flipped the script, and now you’re the one on TV?”
“And so doing that, we got to see some amazing, beautiful light displays. We’ve gone around the country meeting great families with great traditions, legacies that have been created. It was a great, great wonderful Christmas experience.”
Brown gave credit to the families on the show who put in “months and months” of work to make people smile.

“What we learned is that there is such a huge heart and feeling behind the displays. The why do they do this? Because oh, it’s nice to put up Christmas lights but why do you keep doing it? Why does it keep getting bigger?” the actor told Pop Culture Planet.
“And the stories about the people and the reasons behind them — that’s where the heart of the show is,” he explained. “And so it’s high energy, [there’s] laughs…You might have some tears because some of these are involved with charities.”
“There’s a huge heart behind all the displays. It’s a lot, lot more than Christmas lights.”
