Western Kentucky University quarterback Austin Reed focuses on serving God and living out God’s purpose for his life amid his successful college football career.

Reed led the nation in passing yards last season with a total of 4,744 yards, but despite his impressive stats, he knows he’s “nothing without Jesus,” as his Instagram bio reads.

“I’m a strong believer in every single day that I wake up is a blessing, and everything that’s been given to me in this life was given to me by the Lord,” he told SportSpectrum of the bio.

“Obviously, you earn things, and you use the gifts God has bestowed on you to earn certain things. But I’d be nowhere without what the Lord has blessed me with, and I’ve been blessed to accomplish certain things in sports,” Reed continued.

“But I want the first thing that people see when they look at my account is I may have done all that, but I am nothing without my Lord and Savior.”

Reed learned about God from his parents.

“I’m extremely blessed that my parents pretty much introduced me to the faith really from when I was born,” he shared. “I’m blessed to have two parents who are super strong in their beliefs and who introduced me to that.”

The quarterback also revealed how he seeks God’s plan for his life.

“I feel very strongly about the fact that if you have a close relationship with God and are truly deep in prayer and you ask the Lord for direction, He will reveal to you what the plan that He has for your life is,” Reed expressed. “It may not be obvious but it’s going to be intuition that comes into your mind and you’re going to feel like this is what the Lord wants me to be doing.”

After his 2022 standout season, Reed shared a series of photos in a Western Kentucky uniform on his Instagram. Reed captioned the photo, “The Lord places you exactly where he wants you to be, and last night was proof of that. 2022 New Orleans Bowl Champs. Thank you to this team, this has been an amazing year. I love each of y’all and have been blessed to be y’all’s quarterback. Until 2023, Go Tops.”
