What Fans Can Expect From CBS’s MATLOCK Reboot

FanSided is giving all the updates on the new gender-flipped CBS MATLOCK reboot.
“The series follows Madeline Matlock, who is ready to rejoin the work force. Of course, due to her age, a lot of people don’t think that she’ll be able to keep up, especially in a prestigious law firm. However, she uses those thoughts to her advantage. She’s not one to beat around the bush, and she will use her age as a way to expose corruption when people least expect it,” FanSided reported May 1.
THE BLIND SIDE actress Kathy Bates will play Madeline, AKA Matty. Skye P. Marshall, Jason Ritter and Beau Bridges will appear in roles within the law firm. Leah Lewis and David Del Rio are expected to appear, too.
Deadline added, “Bridges plays Senior, the firm’s managing partner who has an indomitable presence that immediately alters the temperature of any room. The man’s influence reaches far and wide, and although he loves his son, Julian (Ritter), he might respect his daughter-in-law, Olympia (Marshall), more.”
Before the SAG-AFTRA strikes, the show had been slated for Fall 2023. And while MATLOCK’s release was more recently announced for 2024 or 2025, FanSided estimates a fall release this year.

The original MATLOCK starred Andy Griffith and ran for nine seasons from 1986-1995. The show spawned spinoff JAKE & THE FATMAN (1987-1992), which had its own spinoff: DIAGNOSIS: MURDER (1991-2002) all the while generating five made-for-TV movies.
“In the original series, Matlock usually worked to gain an acquittal by the jury in the courts. It remains to be seen if that’s going to be the focus for this new series, or whether the show will put the focus on taking the bad guys down. It certainly seems like the latter,” FanSided said.
Screen Rant added that each episode will most likely feature at least one guest star.
