Grammy-nominated country artist Anne Wilson opened up about what grieving the death of her brother has taught her about God.

“We weren’t designed for pain and suffering like in the beginning. When God designed everything with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, it was perfect and it was holy and there was no sin,” Wilson told Madison Prewett Troutt on her “Stay True” podcast. “And we weren’t made for pain. We weren’t made for suffering, and because they fell short and they sinned like now, that’s what we have to deal with.”

Trout also added, “That’s why He sent Jesus, so that we can experience life one day where there will be no more tears, where there will be no more suffering, where we only experience joy and peace and love and happiness and all the good, all the good that we were made to experience, and we will have that one day.”

Before Wilson got her big break in country music, her brother Jacob died in a car accident in 2017.

Five weeks ago, Wilson honored her brother as she celebrated her 23rd birthday by releasing a song, “23,” dedicated to him.

“Today is my 23rd birthday and I can’t help but think of my brother Jacob. He lived 23 beautiful years of life before the Lord called him home. He sure made those years count and I hope to do the same with mine,” Wilson wrote on Instagram. “I wrote this song a couple weeks ago to express all the ways I’m feeling today. I hope you all love it as much as I do.”

Wilson just wrapped up her time on the Winter Jam Tour.

“Finished up all 38 shows on @winterjamtour It’s always so bittersweet when a tour comes to an end!” the country singer wrote in an Instagram post.

She also teased some new projects she’s been working on.

“Enjoyed some beautiful spring Tennessee days & lots of time with Annie Oakley,” she added. “Thankful to be home these next couple months and to share what I’ve been working on!!!! Stay tuned.”

The singer recently released a version of Hillsong Worship’s “What A Beautiful Name,” which she sang at her brother’s funeral seven years ago, as part of her exclusive Apple Music Nashville Sessions EP.

She covered other Christian worship hits, including “Graves Into Gardens,” “The Cross” and “Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone).”

Wilson’s music — whether Christian or country — points her listeners to the hope she has in Jesus, even after facing tragedy.
