What is ‘Christian Girl Autumn’? How to Hop on This Cozy Trend

‘Tis the season for pumpkin spice, apple picking, changing leaves and all things fall, and few people are known for their love of the season like Caitlin Covington is.

Dubbed the face of “Christian girl autumn,” Covington has turned her love of fall into a full-time career on social media.

PEOPLE reported exclusively on the influencer and what it takes to be the girl representing the season.

Covington began her career in 2011 with an online blog when she was a junior in college, sharing lifestyle tips and recipes. However, a year later, fall was the “central theme” of her posts.

She has found such success in her content that her husband was able to quit his job as a data analyst to help her.

“Covington’s full-time job revolves around sharing her life, particularly her passion for fall, on social media,” PEOPLE said. “She is an ambassador for brands like Nordstrom and Rufflebutts and has worked with Walmart Fashion, MacKenzie-Childs, Abercrombie & Fitch and Lululemon.”

Covington shared what it’s like being a full-time influencer.

“I do feel pressure, especially during fall because I feel like everyone looks to me for fall content,” she said. “So I try to hold myself to a certain standard and brainstorm new creative ideas. I spend hours researching and planning outfits for fall. There’s a lot of pressure, and I want my videos and pictures to be well received.”

Covington also shared how she represents her Christian faith with the eyes of 1.3 million Instagram followers on her.

“Christians can get a bad rap…While I am a Christian, I prefer not to preach about it on social media. Instead, I choose to live by example. If someone is curious and asks me about my faith, I’m happy to share. I don’t want to impose my beliefs on anyone or make it seem like I’m forcing them on others.”

For Covington, Sept. 1 marks when it’s finally acceptable to begin decorating for fall, and she posted a video to Instagram celebrating the return of her favorite season.

The video shows Covington lying asleep holding a pumpkin. It then pans over to a leaf falling from a tree, and suddenly Covington awakens. “It’s September 1st… you know what that means,” she wrote in the caption.

Since then, she’s been filling her feed with fall inspo — like pumpkin spice latte recipes, outfit ideas and cozy fall vibes — to get her fans ready for the best time of the year.
