What A LITTLE WOMEN’S CHRISTMAS Stars Love About the Movie

The A LITTLE WOMEN’S CHRISTMAS cast is sharing their favorite things about the movie and the best part of Christmas — Jesus’ birth.

“I read ‘Little Women’ in fourth grade,” Jen Lilley recalled at the movie’s premiere, “only because it was 568 pages and I got a lot of points on accelerated reader for it, so I fell asleep through half of the book, but I remember liking it, so I was familiar as a fourth grader. But it had been a long time. But I always remember that Meg was my favorite character, so I was really pumped to play Meg, I mean, she is awesome.’

Julia Reilly told Movieguide®, “I had read the book as well, a long, long time ago, and then had seen like the recent movie adaptation that came out. It was great, and Amy was my favorite in it as well, so I was so excited to do this movie and get to play Amy.”

Lilley was reminded of the whole point of Christmas when asked about her favorite Christmas traditions.

“Jesus is the reason for the season, and so for me, Christmas Eve is a much more powerful day to me than even Christmas because I think Christmas Eve is the day when most people are so focused on Jesus and the gift that He gave us, you know, and it’s not lost on me,” she shared.

“So, I love the tradition of my husband reads the story, you know, out of Luke, and we talk about it with kids, and my dad did that for me, and I know my father-in-law did that with my husband and his family. And it’s just so not lost on me the sacrifice that God made. So, I’m just really grateful to Jesus and the reason for the season,” she said tearfully.

Laura Osnes said, “It was such a treasure to film right here on our home turf in Franklin, TN. Here are a few magical moments from our final day on set together. ???‍?‍??? Can’t wait to bring you this beloved story this Christmas!…

Jesse Hutch was much more in awe of his daughter’s acting debut than he was of acting in a classic remake, though the significance isn’t lost on him.

“The most important part was my daughter actually got to play my daughter. This is her acting debut on the screen, and she completely crushed it,” the doting dad said. “She was higher on the call sheet than me. She did a better job than I did, and I’m just so incredibly proud of her.”

“So I had one of my first scenes where she holds my hand and she goes, ‘Look what I found! It’s Daddy!’ and I…almost cried in the scene,” Hutch told Movieguide®. “I’m like, wait I’m not supposed to cry in the scene, but it was such a kind of heartfelt moment for me as a father.”

Laura Osnes loved bringing her character, Beth, to life.

“I was so honored,” Osnes gushed. “This entity is so beloved, and…it was so special to get to breathe life into Beth and really tell her story. She’s kind of quiet. She’s not the one to draw attention, and so it was really beautiful to get to just watch and learn from the actors around me, and obviously there are moments where Beth gets to shine, and this movie really follows all the sister stories so beautifully.”

Actress Danica McKellar also appeared at the premiere to support her fellow GAF stars.

“I feel like there’s a lot of Classics out there that get lost in the shuffle and it’s nice to give a modern spin on a story that’s so beloved and I really can’t think of a more talented cast to do it with,” McKellar said.

After the night ended, Lilley made a long, appreciative post on Instagram:
