What We Can Learn From Texans QB’s Sideline Prayer
By Movieguide® Contributor
Before a recent game, Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud took a moment to seek God on the sidelines in prayer.
In a video shared by Sterling Harris Ministries, Stroud is seen taking a knee, clasping his hands together and bowing his head.
“In the midst of the roaring stadium, quarterback CJ Stroud, of the Houston Texans, takes a moment to pray,” the account wrote. “His head bowed, hands clasped — a reminder that even on life’s biggest stages, we all need a moment to center ourselves and invite God into our every moment.”
“Whether you’re facing a crucial game or a challenging day at work, taking time to breathe, reflect, and pray can be your secret weapon,” the post continued. “Stroud shows us that success isn’t just about physical preparation, but mental and spiritual readiness too. What’s your pre-game go to for life’s daily challenges?”
Movieguide® recently reported on Stroud’s boldness to share his faith in the NFL:
Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud once again led his team to victory, and as fans have come to expect and love, he gave God the glory.
“You know, all glory goes to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It’s just an honor and a blessing to be playing in Houston again on a Sunday night,” Stroud said in a video shared by Christhlete on Instagram. “You know we didn’t get on primetime last year so, it’s a blessing. But you know, we got a lot of things to clean up but, you know, you learn…and that’s a blessing in its own sense because it’s hard to win in the NFL.”
The Texans record is at 2-1 this season following a tough loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
“Minnesota got the better of Houston, 34-7, at U.S. Bank Stadium. The Texans offense began the game by committing a penalty on its first offensive snap, and then turning the ball over on the next play with an interception. The Vikings capitalized, scoring a touchdown six plays later, and they would never trail the rest of the way,” the Houston Texans reported.
In the post-game press conference, head coach DeMeco Ryans reiterated that his focus is on the future.
“We can’t harp on it,” he explained. “We’ll watch it tomorrow. We’ll learn from the mistakes. It’s all about, ‘What do you learn from this loss?’ You learn and you make the proper corrections for the next week. We should play better next week.”
Stroud followed his coach’s lead, adding, “Once we fix the negatives, we’re going to be rolling. I’m excited, because the only way we can go now is up. I’m glad it happened early. Now it’s time to go to work.”
