What We Know About MrBeast’s BEAST GAMES Controversy
By Movieguide® Contributor
MrBeast, one of the world’s largest YouTubers, recently hosted his new show BEAST GAMES, but the production crew and contestants aren’t happy about how things went down behind the scenes.
Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, rose to fame on YouTube in 2017. His channel has continued to grow as he shared videos of competitions he’d put on with massive prizes.
BEAST GAMES, his latest endeavor through Amazon, takes things to the next level.
“I gathered 1,000 people to fight for $5,000,000, the LARGEST cash prize in TV history! We’re also giving away a private island, Lamborghinis, and millions more in cash throughout the competition! Go watch to see the greatest show ever made!” Prime Video’s synopsis reads.

Rolling Stone reported, “BEAST GAMES production did not go smoothly, with multiple outlets reporting on the difficult conditions those competing and working on the event had to endure. Rolling Stone spoke with a dozen crew members and contestants in September and since then, three more contestants have come forward to share their stories, documents, and pictures, revealing just how much chaos there was in the making of this record-breaking show.”
The first part of filming took place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Contestants dished on working conditions, saying they had to wear trash bags over their clothes.
One contestant said that a person was “covered in excrement,” and others were denied access to needed medications. Some contestants “had not received adequate food or medical care.” Because of this, contestants also filed a class action lawsuit against the show.
The Guardian reported, “The filing alleges that production staff created a ‘toxic’ work environment for women who faced ‘sexual harassment’ throughout the contest. Those sections are heavily redacted in an effort to comply with ‘confidentiality provisions’ signed by the competitors, according to a press release from their lawyers.”
Donaldson took three months to speak out against any claims made against his show, calling them “outrageous.”
In a discussion with YouTuber Caleb Phelps, Donaldson admitted, “We did mess up on little things and there are definitely things we could have done better, but then it’s mixed in with like all these crazy outrageous claims.”
