What’s Candace Cameron Bure’s Secret to Her ‘Committed’ 28-Year Marriage?

Candace Cameron Bure just celebrated her 28th wedding anniversary with her husband, Valeri, and their marriage just keeps getting better.
“The love has grown over the years,” she told Fox News Digital of their relationship. “When you really do go through the depths of the valley, and you come back out on top as many times as you go through that roller coaster of life — within marriage, every time you come back on top it’s like another notch in the belt of commitment, staying together.”
Although they’ve been married for now 28 years, the couple has been together for three decades.
“We’ve been together for 30 years, and that’s a pretty big milestone,” Bure added. “I truly love him more today and am more committed to him today than I was when we first got married. He’s my partner for life.”
Bure credits her successful marriage to relying on God and following his “blueprint.”
“Marriage is so wonderful. And yet there are so many ups and downs over the years,” she said. “I’ve said it before, but the secret has not just been the commitment to God and the blueprint that God provides us biblically within a marriage, but it’s honoring one another.”
“And in that, even when I may not, he may not deserve it, we honor each other, because it’s honoring God. And I think that’s where the focus is for us. That we honor God in all our actions first and foremost, but that is an outpouring of the love that we share together whether we really feel like it or not at the moment,” the actress explained.
Bure also celebrated their anniversary on Instagram with a photo carousel of her and her husband throughout the years.
“28 years ? today! How it started… and how it’s going❤️?” she captioned the post that included photos of the couple while dating, on their wedding day and throughout their marriage.
Bure and her husband share three grown children: Natasha, 25, Lev, 23, and Maksim, 21.
“I’m grateful that we were on the strict side,” she admitted of her and Val’s parenting style. “I’m grateful that I know that we loved our children well, because our adult children are friends with us. Like, they like hanging out with us! So that says something. And it is the coolest place to be right now.”

Not wanting to just give the “boring” answer, as she calls it, she adds that it is important to keep things new as their relationship changes.
“In 27 years, you have to keep dating. You have to keep laughing together. You have to keep the joy in the relationship,” the FULLER HOUSE star went on to say.
“And I think at this stage of my life, because we’re kind of empty nesters, really, it’s about finding the new fun in our life and the things that we’re doing together or where we’re going to go and meeting new people and new friends. And it…kind of never stops. It continues to evolve, and it’s what keeps it healthy.”
