What’s Next for James Bond After Major Franchise Shake Up?

Creative control of the James Bond franchise changed hands from producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli to Amazon MGM, and fans are wondering what’s next for everyone’s favorite 007.
“We don’t have a plan yet on what the next theme is going to be,” said Amazon CEO Andy Jassy. “We haven’t — nobody’s written the story yet. But we will take great care. It’s an amazing franchise that we care a lot about and that we expect to develop over a long period of time.”
Jassy also addressed any concerns that the franchise might turn to AI to generate the next Bond story.
“First of all, I don’t believe that AI is going to write a Bond movie any time soon,” he said. “[We are] incredibly honored to have the ability to help shepherd the Bond franchise for the next generation. And we have amazing filmmakers that we have hired over time at MGM Amazon Studios.”
Wilson and Broccoli announced their exit from the franchise last month. Though they will share co-ownership with Amazon MGM, they will no longer have creative control.

“My life has been dedicated to maintaining and building upon the extraordinary legacy that was handed to Michael and me by our father, producer Cubby Broccoli,” Broccoli said. I have had the honor of working closely with four of the tremendously talented actors who have played 007 and thousands of wonderful artists within the industry. With the conclusion of NO TIME TO DIE and Michael retiring from the films, I feel it is time to focus on my other projects.”
“With my 007 career spanning nearly 60 incredible years, I am stepping back from producing the James Bond films to focus on art and charitable projects,” added Wilson. “Therefore, Barbara and I agree, it is time for our trusted partner, Amazon MGM Studios, to lead James Bond into the future.”
