AMERICA’S GOT TALENT will kick off its 20th season in May, and the judges are reflecting on some of their favorite acts from the past.

“It’s absolutely brilliant to announce our 20th season of AGT,” said judge Simon Cowell. “Over the years, we’ve seen amazing Acts and met truly incredible people. It’s true that two or three minutes can change your life, and I want to thank every Contestant, all the fans who have supported the show every year, and to NBC for believing in this show. And of course, the amazing team, past and present, who make the show so special. Now as always, I am really excited to meet the Contestants this year.”

Cowell will be joined on the judge panel by Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara and Spice Girl Mel B.

While on the Red Carpet for the 20th season, Parade talked with the panel of judges and show host, Terry Crews, to see which acts over the 20 years is their favorite.

“V.Unbeatable was always one of my favorites,” Mandel said. “They’re a large troop of acrobats from India. I have a new favorite this year that I’m not going to give away. But it’s my Golden Buzzer, which surprised me to no end because I don’t usually respond to this category. It’s just when you think you can’t see anything better, bigger or more exciting, you see something better, bigger, and more exciting.”

Crews had a hard time narrowing it down to just one contestant.

“Well, you know, my Golden Buzzer Avery Dixon, saxophonist, amazing. I gotta go back to Nightbirde, go back to Kodi Lee, amazing people. We’ve seen some lives change here. Look at Richard Goodall, you know what I mean? Just off last year, unbelievable,” Crews said.

Vergara said her’s was a special dance group.

“In [my third season], I picked a Golden Buzzer, the Mayyas. And then they won AGT, that was very special for me,” she recalled.

Mel B said her favorite act was Darci Lynne.

“My Golden Buzzer last time I was on, Darci Lynne, the ventriloquist, she was amazing. But there’s so much talent on the seasons that I wasn’t on, the seasons I was on, and the season I’m on right now,” the Spice Girl said.  “It’s like the gift that keeps on giving. Just when you think, surely there’s no more talent left in the whole world, there’s more that comes.”

The judges are excited for the 20th season and can’t wait to get things underway.

Mendel said it best:

I love every moment that I’m here. I just feel like this is a bright spot in entertainment, you know? It really is, this is sunshine. A lot of shows I’ve worked on, they’re great shows and they’re fun. But there isn’t a moment. Whether I’m sitting there anticipating what’s going to happen next, whether I’m watching somebody’s dream come true, whether I’m watching their life change forever, or just sitting back and being entertained or laughing or screaming or feeling emotional for somebody, there’s nothing that moves you in every direction. And that’s why I believe this is still the number one summer show whether you’re five or 95. I watch it with my grandchildren.

AGT held live auditions in Los Angeles three weeks ago.
