Why a Worship Concert is Coming to Theaters
By Movieguide® Contributor
Brandon Lake and Phil Wickam are bringing worship to the masses by releasing their newest tour in theaters along with a look at their behind-the-scenes lives.
“My hope for this project is that it would not only show what it takes to go on tour, but why the music and touring mean so much to us,” Lake said. “Countless lives have been changed, especially ours. Though we’ve had the opportunity to influence many, our focus remains for the One.”
“Never in my life did I think I would be a part of telling a piece of my story in theaters,” Wickham added. “I hope the stories encountered through this movie show everyone watching how much they are loved by the ONE. I can’t wait to share this with the world, and I hope people are encouraged by it.”
While hundreds of thousands of people have gotten to worship with Wickham and Lake during their tour, FOR THE ONE also delves into the story behind the songs and the steps the singers take to keep their focus on the Lord.
“What they bring to an evening stadium is really exciting. Hopefully we’ve captured it on film in a way that’ll be a really fulfilling experience for people. I believe that will be the case,” producer Ken Carpenter told Movieguide®. “And the movie really – I don’t know if this is the right term to use – but there is a bromance and the movie does, among other many things, kind of press on that and reveal that and show that there’s really something special with how God has brought together these two guys.”
Above all else, FOR THE ONE reveals the diversity of the Lord’s kingdom as people of all ages and backgrounds attend these concerts to worship.
“There wasn’t like a predictable Phil and Brandon fan,” Carpenter said. “All types of people were worshipping together, that was remarkable and fun to see but the really great thing to see… was just to see God at work in the realm of music in such a powerful way today.”
FOR THE ONE is in theaters October 27-29.

Christian Artists Phil Wickham and Brandon Lake believe young people are leaving the church because the Gospel message has been watered down by “slick” preaching.
“I think my generation and younger are less and less convinced by preachers and communicators that are communicating so slick,” multi-time Grammy award winner Lake told The Christian Post.
“I know sticky statements are important because you remember them beyond Sunday. But this generation is looking for something to be communicated,” he continued. “God’s Word is authentic. It’s relevant, it’s complete truth, but I think it’s important how you communicate it so that you can earn people’s trust, that it’s believable, that you’re coming across authentic.”
Wickham explained that people need clear biblical teaching to confront all the information coming their way every day.
