Why Candace Cameron Bure Left LA: ‘Quite a Few Problems’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Candace Cameron Bure opened up about why she and her family left Los Angeles.
“Not everyone in Hollywood lives behind guard gates,” the Great American Family actress told Fox News. “We weren’t behind gates, and we’ve had quite a few problems over the years with people, just, cameras and hiding, and people just coming up to our door.”
“It’s amazing what people feel they can do,” Bure said. “And wanting to be a part of your life in some way. Some of it is innocent, some of it wasn’t. But it’s quite unnerving when you’re just trying to be a person and live life, and you don’t know what’s around the corner.”
There has been much speculation about where Bure moved, but she confirmed that although she and her husband are not in Los Angeles, they are still in California.
“There have been all kinds of stories as to where we moved, and none of them are right,” Bure said. “None of them. We didn’t move to Nashville. We didn’t move to Texas. We’re actually still in California. We just moved up north. We’re no longer in Los Angeles,” she said.
Bure previously opened up about the move. Movieguide® reported:
“Many of you have asked, ‘Did you move?’ Yes,” Bure posted to her Instagram story. “‘Why?’ Mostly for security reasons. Also, family dynamics have changed. The kids don’t live in Los Angeles anymore. Mama will go where they go! I travel a lot. The seasons of life.”
Bure revealed that she and her husband are now “empty nesters,” but they maintain a close relationship with their three children.
“We cultivated those strong relationships as they were young and all throughout their years in their small youth and then teenage years,” she said. “And now that they’re adults…now’s the time where you get to be friends with your kids. And it’s pretty awesome, but it’s all in the foundation and the groundwork that we get to have this fruitful relationship as adults.”
Bure’s daughter Natasha left the LA area for Dallas, Texas, last summer.
“This is also the first time I’m ever officially living by myself,” Natasha said. “It’s going to be a challenge for sure, but I think it’ll be a good challenge for me.”
The actress’s son, Lev, married Elliott Dunham earlier this year.
“Words cannot express the joy we have felt this weekend celebrating the marriage of our son and his bride Elliott. We gained a beautiful daughter and a wonderful family to do life with,” Bure posted. “My heart is so full.”
