Why Harrison Ford Isn’t Worried About AI: Won’t ‘Steal My Soul’
By Movieguide® Contributor
INDIANA JONES star Harrison Ford recently dismissed the concern of studios using his likeness for movies.
“You don’t need artificial intelligence to steal my soul. You can already do it for nickels and dimes with good ideas and talent,” he told The Wall Street Journal.
Ford was referring to the “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” video game, which used voice and motion acting from Troy Baker.
“He did a brilliant job, and it didn’t take AI to do it,” said Ford, a Teddy Bear Award® winner.
At The Game Awards, Ford said of Baker, “I think this guy did a great job. If I had known he was so good, I would have done it myself.”
In 2023, the actor said that CGI and AI can be useful for filmmaking.
“When it’s helpful, I’m happy to have it, and when it’s not, I’m disappointed that we’ve chosen to use it,” Ford said. “I think it’s not a question of the technology, it’s how you use it.

“I mean, we have the capacity to generate more enemies than anyone would ever face before,” he continued. “More airplanes in the sky than anyone would ever see. But what happens is you lose human scale. And if you lose that, you lose the audience’s ability to experience, consistent with the characters, the story that you’re telling. It’s too easy.”
“Harrison Ford seems to have a very healthy attitude with respect to the use of artificial intelligence,” said Rob Rosenberg, Founder and Principal of Telluride Legal Strategies. “He recognizes that many of the characters he has portrayed are timeless and will live on past his lifetime.”
“My plan is to keep working behind that face till I don’t care what happens anymore. I’m selling that piece by piece while I’m alive,” Ford said. “I’ve been compensated. You don’t need to worry about me.”
AI expert Marva Bailer said Ford values artistry over commercial considerations. He already has a legacy behind him and standards that he’s set.
“Besides, he’d rather imagine new generations of great actors on the horizon, not digital Harrison Ford replicants,” she added.
“There won’t be any need for me. There’s somebody behind me. Doing what I did,” Ford said. “And that’s the attraction. It’s what’s coming.”
