Why Mina Starsiak Hawk Misses GOOD BONES

GOOD BONES star Mia Starsiak Hawk took to her Instagram stories recently to reminisce over her HGTV show.

“I grew up making Good Bones,” she said. “I started in my 20s. I turn 40 this year. Most of my adult life was spent making the show.”

It has officially been one year since the show ended in October 2023 after eight seasons.

“I miss the real work,” Hawk said. “The fun. The pranks. The amazing relationships. The experiences I got to have that I never would have had if not for the show. 100% I miss it.”

Hawk and her mother Karen E. Laine had a falling out after the original show, but both made an appearance in the spin-off GOOD BONES: RISKY BUSINESS.

Neither appeared on screen at the same time.

Hawk’s portion covered “her renovation of an Indiana lake house that she and her husband purchased. ‘It’s this place that I can see in my mind that’s going to be for my family, but also for my extended family, to make these new, amazing memories,’ she said. ‘I have so many friends that I hear tell great stories about growing up at their grandparents’ lake house and running around in the woods and building forts and just being kids, and I want that for my kids.’”

Hawk told PEOPLE how much she loves making TV and getting to do what she loves in the process.

“I love what I do. And I actually — weirdly enough, even though it was never a goal of mine — I love making TV. I love working with the people. I love doing something different every day, and something that’s challenging. And I have a great relationship with the network still, and moving forward will still do things with them.”

To reunite with the initial GOOD BONES team would require a “healthier balance,” Hawk said.
