Why Tim Tebow Fights for Those Who ‘Can’t Fight for Themselves’

Former NFL star Tim Tebow knew his God-given purpose from a young age.
“One of the greatest calls on my life is to fight for people that can’t fight for themselves,” he said on Instagram. “When I was 15 and in the jungles of the Philippines…I met a boy who was born with his feet on backwards. He was a throwaway to his village. But I knew that day he wasn’t a throwaway to God. I probably haven’t done it very well, but I’ve known that I was supposed to fight for boys and girls, men and women, hurting people all around the world that were viewed as less than. Because to God, nobody is.”
Because of that mission, Tebow founded the Tim Tebow Foundation, which is dedicated to fighting for people who can’t fight for themselves.
“Our heart at @timtebowfoundation is to fight for the Most Vulnerable People, the MVP— those who have been viewed as less than, insignificant or cursed, who have been thrown away, abandoned, trafficked or orphaned, or are in need of life-changing medical intervention,” he wrote. “Just as every life is valuable to God, every life is valuable to us at TTF.”
“In Ephesians 2:10, it says that we are ‘…created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them,'” Tebow continued. “At TTF, we believe that each one of us has not only been saved from something but that we have also been saved for something. If you believe you are called to fight alongside TTF, if your heart aches for the hurting people around the world, we invite you to answer the call and join our mission to fight for the MVP – the Most Vulnerable People around the world.”
“Since TTF was created 13 years ago, they’ve used their pillars of Faith, Hope, and Love to positively impact those in need in 86 nations and counting,” Inspire More reported.
The foundation has several practical ways it ministers to MVPs: Orphan Care + Prevention, Profound Medical Needs, Special Needs Ministry and Anti-Human Trafficking + Child Exploitation.
“TTF also has a heart to share the Gospel with as many vulnerable people as possible to help them know their inherent value as children of God,” the foundation says on its website.
Moveiguide® recently reported on a project TTF is funding in Guatemala:
Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow and his wife, Demi, have started construction on a new “Tebow Down” campus in Guatemala City to serve families in the area.
“We don’t often see the immediate answer to prayer, but wow thank you Lord and to our giving family for making this NEW campus a reality!” Tebow posted on Instagram. “In December, we shared our heart with you to build a new Tebow Down campus in Guatemala City, a flagship campus to help us meet the opportunity to serve more families. You said yes, and now we get to break ground!”
“Tebow Down Guatemala, a ministry of the Tim Tebow Foundation, provides holistic education and resources to children with developmental disabilities in Guatemala and their families,” the foundation’s website states.
Tebow’s foundation began supporting Down Guatemala’s work in 2018 before it officially became a ministry of the Tim Tebow Foundation.“In the original space in Guatemala City, we grew from serving 55 students to 137 students and the need for a larger, more encompassing campus became very evident,” Tebow continued. “Every week, our team at @downguatemala received calls from families urgently seeking a spot for their child. However, due to limited space, we have been left with no other option but to add these incredible families to an extensive online waiting list. This broke our hearts as our desire is to be able to not only come alongside every single family who reaches out, but also be able to provide a spot for their child to receive therapy and education.”
