Paramount is considering another YELLOWSTONE spinoff written by Taylor Sheridan and landing on CBS in the near future.
“[The prequels are] time capsules of life in Montana as a microcosm of the world as a whole,” Sheridan told The Hollywood Reporter in 2023. “They’re big spectacles, and the more that you move into the modern era, the bigger that spectacle becomes. I know these are huge bets Paramount makes on me every time. I’m essentially asking them to give me GAME OF THRONES season six money for what is essentially a pilot every year, and that’s a big ask.”
“As long as I do my job well, and people don’t bore of the genre, I think there will be enough for many more [prequels] — three or four. Chris McCarthy trusts me, because I haven’t been wrong yet.”
Two years later, and Sheridan has delivered hit after hit. The studio has released four different spinoffs since YELLOWSTONE ended after its fifth season, and clearly Sheridan has more stories to write. The one currently being considered by CBS would star Luke Grimes, returning as former Navy SEAL Kayce Dutton. Producer Spencer Hudnut would run the show.
The four YELLOWSTONE spinoffs that have already gotten a start are spread across Paramount’s networks, to resounding success. The shows include 1883, which explored the founding of Yellowstone Ranch; 1923, which picks up 50 years later and explores the new generation on the ranch; 1944, which follows a similar premise to the previous shows; and THE MADISON, which explores the Dutton family’s dynasty in present day.

Sheridan also has plans for a show specifically following Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, along with a show exploring the Four Sixes ranch.
“That [the Four Sixes show], for a number of reasons, needs a unique level of special care because this is a real place with real families working here,” Sheridan said. “You have to respect the lineage. I’ve told [the studio] to be patient.”
While YELLOWSTONE and the spinoff series often include strong language and violence, the shows as a whole are committed to traditional values — which were the everyday values during the times these shows portray.
Sheridan is also committed to these values, which is why he continues to incorporate them into his shows.“[Defund the police and toxic masculinity] are all terms that have been created. It’s fascinating that language is being reinvented before our eyes. There’s all these new words that are just meant to keep one person from disagreeing with another person’s position,” Sheridan told Joe Rogan in 2024, jokingly adding, “I love micro-agression. Just like itty bitty, that was a micro-agression. I don’t think anyone has ever been curious. If I’m going to upset you, you’re going to know it.”
