Will PIXAR Embrace Wholesome Values in Their Latest Movie?

Pixar just launched the trailer for its latest production, ELIO, coming out June 20.
The animated feature focuses on lonely, 11-year-old alien-obsessed Elio, who gets mistaken as Earth’s ruler after he gets beamed to space.
“I’m trying to get abducted — by aliens,” Elio said in a teaser last year. “I’m supposed to be up there.”
“I just wanna belong somewhere… if any aliens are listening, please come and get me!” Elio says into a radio microphone.
Director-writer Adrian Molina started ELIO but left, presumably to work on COCO 2, which was just officially announced Thursday. Domee Shi and Madeline Sharafian took over ELIO after Molina’s departure. Alice Drumm produces the movie.
Yonas Kibreab, Jameela Jamil, Brad Garrett, Zoe Saldaña, Remy Edgerly and Shirley Henderson all star in the movie.

Kibreab said he thinks viewers will “feel all different kinds of emotions.” The 14-year-old said, “They’re gonna be laughing, they’re gonna maybe tear up — I don’t know — and they’re also just gonna be super happy because the movie is just generally a very funny and exciting movie.”
Pixar did a great job with INSIDE OUT 2 last year, which won a Movieguide® Teddy Bear Award® and is currently the highest-grossing animated film ever. As long as the company sticks to promoting family values over progressive agendas, it will continue to have the best and most successful movies out there.
Other Pixar projects on the horizon are HOPPERS and TOY STORY 5.
In HOPPERS, slated to come out Mar. 6, 2026, scientists discover how to talk to animals by transferring human consciousness to realistic robot animals. A young animal lover named Mabel gets her hands on the new tech and sets out on an exciting adventure. Daniel Chong will direct, and Nicole Paradis Grindle will produce. Piper Curda, Bobby Moynihan and Jon Hamm will star in the movie.
TOY STORY 5 will come out on June 19, 2026. It will continue the story of Woody, Buzz, and their friends as they confront a “new threat to playtime.” Andrew Stanton and McKenna Harris will direct, and Jessica Choi will produce. Tim Allen and Tom Hanks will return as Woody and Buzz.
