Will the Original Avengers Get Back Together? Chris Evans Says …
By Movieguide® Contributor
While rumors continue to circulate about the original Avengers getting back together, Chris Evans revealed that he has yet to hear any real news of a reunion.
“You know, I always see those reports too, and it’s news to me,” Evans told THE VIEW. “I think every couple months someone says that they’re getting [Robert] Downey [Jr.] and [Chris] Hemsworth and Scarlett [Johansson], and everyone’s coming back! No one’s spoken to me about it.”
2019’s AVENGERS: ENDGAME wrapped up the stories of most of the original team. Johansson’s Black Widow and Downey Jr.’s Iron Man died, potentially making a return difficult.
Evan’s character – Steve Rogers/Captain America – received a happy ending, returning to his own era to live the life with Peggy Carter he longed for throughout the series. While he would “never say never” to a return to the role, it would take something particularly special to bring him back.
“I’m very protective,” Evans said about his role as Steve Rogers. “It’s a very precious role to me, so it would have to be just right.”
There is also little reason to bring the character back as he passed his role as Captain America off to his friend Sam Wilson in ENDGAME, who has returned as the character multiple times in the four years since.
However, Evans does miss the comradery from filming those movies and is thankful for the friendships he created with his co-stars and crew members.
“It’s [also] just intrinsically cool to be a superhero,” he added. “[And to] live out your childhood dream.”
Leaving his role at Marvel, however, has come with great upsides. Evans was able to move away from Los Angeles and step away from acting so he could spend time with his family. It has also allowed him to pursue other interests such as his newfound love for pottery.

Chris Evans has joined the list of celebrities who have recently chosen to leave Los Angeles.
“[It] takes me back to a place when life was not just simpler — that’s too reductive — but to a time where I was more pure, I guess; where my ego and my insecurities weren’t such a dominant force that I had to push against,” Evans said in a GQ interview about his move to New England.
He shared that he moved out of L.A. after finishing production on AVENGERS: ENDGAME, in which he portrayed Captain America.
Evans also explained that part of the reason he decided to move back to his native New England was because of the “Pavlovian anxiety” he felt about living in Hollywood.
