Worship Saved CeCe Winans’ Son From Serving the Devil

CeCe Winans is sharing how God pulled her son “out of the darkness.”
“My son, he was in a place of — ‘Lord, whoever gets to me first, You or the devil, that’s who I’m going to serve,’” the gospel singer said during an episode of TBN’s BETTER TOGETHER. “But that’s why I know worship is and gratitude is powerful, because it allows you to see how great God is.”
Winans continued, “And God didn’t just turn him around, but He put him on fire for Him. So he’s preaching, and multitudes will be saved because of him. So the power of gratitude, worship and thanksgiving is life-changing.”
“The word of God is true. No matter what you’re going through, He is faithful. And if you can focus on His greatness, He’ll pull you out of the darkness,” she concluded.
Winans has previously spoken about her son Alvin’s faith journey, telling Premier Gospel, “I spent time on my knees crying to God to bring him back home. One day I got a call from my son in Melbourne Australia; he had encountered God and wanted to let me know that God was real.”
Today, Alvin is a pastor at Nashville Life Church.
In an Instagram post celebrating his birthday, Winans wrote, “I’m so godly proud of you. Your heart for God and his people continues to bless me and so many others! May you experience great Peace and abundant Joy today along with all the daily benefits of serving the Lord.”
The gospel star is currently preparing for her upcoming Christmas tour, where she will be joined by former AMERICAN IDOL contestant Roman Collins.
“Christmas is a wonderful time of the year and I’m looking forward to celebrating with everyone and sharing the stage with my special guest, Roman Collins,” Winans said in a statement given to CCM Magazine. “He is the real deal. He’s sincere about the Lord and singing gospel music.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Winans’ faith:
CeCe Winans is reminding us to focus on God’s purpose for us rather than our own desires.
“When you focus on His purpose and delight yourself in Him, then your desires will line up with Him. And when your desires don’t line up with Him, you know it’s not Him,” the Grammy winner said during an appearance on TBN’s BETTER TOGETHER. “It’s following Him that you’re guaranteed to end up where you’re supposed to be.”
Winans emphasized that “we have to be led by our purpose and not our passion.”
“Your purpose is the thing that grounds you,” she explained. “It’s the thing that guides you in your teens and your 20s and your 30s and your 40s and your 50s and your 60s. It’s like, ‘I’ve got to place Him, you know, period. Not anything else.’”
Winans reminded viewers, “You have to make sure the thing that’s motivating you, it’s your purpose, and you’ll make it your future.”
