DUCK DYNASTY star Si Robertson is making headlines for his patriotic new home design.

Robertson, an Army vet who served in Vietnam, was recently part of Northeast Louisiana Roofing’s project to upgrade local veterans’ homes.

“It all kind of started with us looking to try to do a veterans program through Owens Corning,” Jeremy Antley, a rep for the company, explained to KNOE. “But we ended up partnering with Owens Corning and we kind of made our own veterans’ program.”

Robertson’s new roof is striped red, white and blue — and Antley promised, “If you are a lower-income veteran and you need a roof, we do have financing options available, and we can definitely get you a red, white, and blue roof, too.”

Robertson’s nephew Jase posted a photo of the new roof on his Instagram account.

“When I heard @sirobertson made the news for his new American flag roof, I had to go see it for myself and take pictures for y’all,” he wrote under a photo of the house. “I said this on our Unashamed podcast on Thursday: There’s no mistaking Si’s priorities in his senior years: He loves Jesus, and he loves America. And he’s definitely unashamed.”

Robertson spoke about his Army service in an interview with Hook and Barrel.

“Well, when I got out of high school, I wasn’t real sure what I wanted to do, okay,” he explained. “I had two brothers going to college at Louisiana Tech, so I thought I would too. I lasted one semester and decided college wasn’t for me and dropped out. Well, three weeks later I get this letter from Uncle Sam telling me I was now a part of the United States Army, okay! They put me through a battery of tests to see what I qualified for, and I ended up working in supply.”

He was sent to Vietnam, and said, “people who weren’t there can’t imagine the horror that was going on over there, okay. There were things I saw and heard that are still hard to forget.”

“The Army took care of me for three years, and then I got out and married the love of my life. I had been out about 16 months and was kind of moping around, okay,” Robertson said. “My sweet wife told me I was way happier when I was in the Army. So hey, I joined up again and went back to working in supply. I made it to Sergeant First Class and would have stayed in for 30 years and then retired, but after over 24 years of service, I was forced into retirement. I came back home and went to work for my brother Phil at Duck Commander making reeds for the duck calls he was selling.”

Robertson concluded, “Hey Jack, anyone who has served in the military is my hero, okay. Everybody who ever served should be honored and not only them but their family too. They served for all of us, and sometimes we just take it for granted. We need to do everything we can to thank them.”
