YouTube is experimenting with some new features for Premium users, from high-quality audio to a new “jump ahead” tool.
“Exploring one new feature is never enough,” YouTube announced on its blog, adding that users “can now opt into multiple experimental features…at once.”
These features include “High-quality audio, Picture-in-Picture for YouTube Shorts on iOS, Smart Downloads for YouTube Shorts on iOS, [and] Faster playback speeds on mobile.”
“Picture-in-Picture” allows users to watch YouTube Shorts while also browsing other apps, while the “Smart Downloads” feature will select and download Shorts for you, to watch when you’re offline.

YouTube is also now offering a “jump ahead” feature that will allow web users “to skip to the more intriguing part of the video,” per TechCrunch.
The outlet shared that YouTube had launched this feature last year for mobile users, letting the app’s algorithm determine the “best parts through machine learning and user feedback.”
In addition to these new features for Premium users, Google’s blog shared that YouTube is “expanding premium features like Ask Music and Conversational AI to more regions and platforms.”
Ask Music is the app’s AI radio tool, similar to other AI playlist-makers offered by Spotify, Amazon Music and Deezer.
For anyone looking for a break on subscription prices, YouTube is offering a discount for those who bundle their subscription with Google’s Google One Premium service. This reduces the price from $13.99 per month to $11.99.
YouTube Premium also recently bundled with Verizon and Peacock, offering users their service, as well as access to Verizon’s wireless plan, as well as Peacock’s streaming library.
