YouTube Reinstates Donald Trump, Follows Twitter and Facebook

Earlier this month, YouTube released a statement that they would reinstate Donald Trump’s YouTube channel, allowing him to run ads and campaign on the video platform.
“Starting today, the Donald J. Trump channel is no longer restricted and can upload new content,” YouTube said. “We carefully evaluated the continued risk of real-world violence, while balancing the chance for votes to hear equally from major national candidates in the run up to an election.”
Trump officially announced his bid for the 2024 presidency in November of last year.
“This channel will continue to be subject to our policies, just like any other channel on YouTube,” the statement clarified, meaning the company reserves the right to restrict his channel again, if future actions deem it necessary.
The Donald J. Trump channel was initially restricted in 2021 shortly after the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol. At the time, YouTube acted in line with Twitter and Facebook who banned Trump from their websites.
Trump has since been reinstated on Twitter following Elon Musk’s takeover and was unbanned from Facebook in January of this year.
It remains unclear if Trump’s full restoration to YouTube will have any significance, as he has remained on his own social platform, Truth Social, after having access restored to other social media sites.
Movieguide® previously reported on Trump’s reinstatement on Meta:
Donald Trump’s Instagram and Facebook accounts were recently reinstated, Meta announced.
This comes after the tech giant suspended the former president from his accounts for over two years following the January 6, 2021, Capitol Hill riots.
More recently, Clegg said, “The normal state of affairs is that the public should be able to hear from a former President of the United States, and a declared candidate for that office again, on our platforms.”
Trump responded to his reinstatement, saying that “such a thing should never again happen to a sitting President, or anybody else who is not deserving of retribution!”
