Zachary Levi To Star in Live-Action Adaptation of ‘Harold and the Purple Crayon’
By Movieguide® Staff
SHAZAM! star Zachary Levi added another project to his already full list of upcoming movies.
Writers David Guion and Michael Handelman—known for their work on NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: SECRET OF THE TOMB—join producer John Davis in Sony Pictures’ live-action adaptation of children’s classic Harold and the Purple Crayon.
The veteran producer worked on various projects, including Movieguide® Award-winner JOY and Movieguide® nominee for Best Movies for Families in 2011, MR. POPPER’S PENGUINS.
HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON is an adaptation of Crockett Johnson’s beloved children’s story published in 1955. The imaginative tale follows a 4-year-old boy named Harold, who creates worlds around him with the power of his crayon. The book’s success resulted in six more stories of Harold’s adventures.
It is unclear what role Levi will have in the upcoming movie.
Levi is accustomed to bringing inspiring, family-friendly roles to life on the big screen. His upcoming projects include Jon Gunn’s UNBREAKABLE BOY and the Erwin Brother’s AMERICAN UNDERDOG: THE KURT WARNER STORY.
He starred in Disney’s 2011 animated musical TANGLED, the 2018 Movieguide®’s Epiphany Prize® for Inspiring Movies winner THE STAR, and the 2019 blockbuster hit SHAZAM!.
