ZILLOW GONE WILD Host Jack McBrayer Talks ‘Passion’ Behind Wacky Homes

ZILLOW GONE WILD, a new show from HGTV, is exploring some of the wackiest homes in America that are up for sale.
Inspired by the popular Instagram account @ZillowGoneWild, the show will spotlight the people who have “embraced non-traditional homes with their distinctive décor and imaginative architecture, as well as reveal the inventive ways to market a unique property,” per HGTV.
The first episodes feature houses like a converted U.S. military missile launch facility, a PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN-themed house and a music-themed home that features giant saxophone pillars.
ZILLOW GONE WILD is hosted by comedian and actor Jack McBrayer, who shared what working on the show has taught him about real estate.
“For every house out there that is just head-to-toe rainbow-colored, there is going to be a buyer,” he told NPR. “For every home that is attached to the underside of a bridge, there’s going to be a buyer. There’s a lid for every pot.”
McBrayer also spoke about his hosting gig in an interview with PEOPLE, pointing to the people behind the homes as his favorite part of the show.
“What was especially fun for me was that by getting those real-life tours, I’m able to meet the homeowners, meet the sellers, and hear the stories behind their choices for their design, architecture, themes—whatever it was,” he said.
McBrayer continued, “I just love the passion behind these homeowners. Why did you choose this old general store or diner to build your home? Guess what—it works. This couple had bought an old church. This couple in Nebraska bought an old schoolhouse. Their primary bedroom is the first-grade classroom. I’m like, this is wackadoo. This is insane.”
