A VERY COUNTRY CHRISTMAS HOMECOMING is a fun, family-friendly, heartwarming Christmas movie with plenty of holiday cheer, traditional and original Christmas songs, and family values.
The movie opens as newlyweds Zane and Jeanette enjoy their honeymoon’s final days, horseback riding, and spending time planning their first holiday as a family. Zane, a famous country singer, tells Jeanette that he took the rest of the holiday season off to spend time with her and his stepdaughter, Quinn. Zane also wants to tell Jeanette’s daughter, Quinn, on Christmas Day that he’s adopting her. Their conversation ends with a flashback to Zane and Jeanette celebrating their first Christmas as a couple.
The movie cuts to Jolene, a mother figure for Zane, recording a new song with a famous pop artist named Cake. Jolene’s frustrated that she’s Cake’s backup singer and isn’t a fan of her music, but Quinn adores Cake.
Zane arrives at the recording studio to pick up Quinn. They join up with Jeanette to go home, where Jeanette’s mother is waiting. However, on their arrival, they see they have an additional visitor. Jeanette’s father-in-law, John, who hasn’t interacted with the family since the death of Jeanette’s first husband and Quinn’s father, introduces himself. Although taken aback, the family is willing to invite him to stay for the Christmas season.
John’s surprise appearance brings up a lot of past emotions for Jeanette, Quinn, and Zane. Quinn is excited to know more about her late father through John’s stories, and Jeanette and her father-in-law reconcile.
At first, Zane is excited for John to stay with them and get to know his granddaughter. Quinn asks Zane to help her write a song about missing her father, and he obliges. However, tensions between John and Zane arise when it comes time to start family traditions such as cutting down a tree and buying gifts. Zane feels that his perfect plan for his family is threatened by John but continues to include him.
After cutting down a Christmas tree with Quinn, Zane tells John he wants to adopt Quinn. John is wary of Zane’s fame. He doesn’t believe Zane can protect Quinn from his life as a celebrity. Zane must learn what his family’s future holds and whether he wants to show grace toward John or plan an ideal Christmas regardless of the consequences.
